More about the higher National Diploma

The Higher National Diploma (HND) is a two-year course offered in Professional Higher Institutions. It runs for four semesters, that is, two academic years. In its first semester, students mostly attend classroom lectures and take end of semester exams. Its second semester ends with an internship, during which students are sent to companies to have firsthand knowledge of what has been learned in Class. During the third semester, in additional to classroom lessons, students write an internship report which they defend as part of their Higher National Diploma Examinations. The fourth and last semester focuses on revision classes in preparation for the HND examinations proper. HND courses are offered in private universities and private Higher Institutions, like the Higher Institute of Business and Applied Linguistics. HND courses are more job market oriented unlike fundamental studies.
